The Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok has stood gracefully on the banks of the Chao Phraya River for more than 150 years, welcoming discerning travellers to experience its celebrated legacy of refined luxury and legendary service. Rooted in a rich and storied history as one of the worldâs most iconic hotels, it continues to enchant guests with its rare balance of heritage, elegance and contemporary comfort - a destination where tradition and innovation exist in perfect harmony.
A tribute in jewels to one of the world's truly great hotels

For me, it carries deeply personal meaning. I first stayed there in my early twenties and have had the good fortune to return on dozens of occasions while travelling for business. It has long felt like a true home away from home. There is something so effortless in the way it delivers luxury - never overstated, always assured - that leaves both first-time visitors and devoted regulars equally enchanted.

The exemplary levels of service at the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok are utterly unique to this hotel, and I am always amazed by the management and staffâs uncanny ability to anticipate my needs in advanceâŠâ

Unique style, immortalised in Margotâs designs
Upon entering the hotel lobby guests are greeted with a spectacular view - featuring a soaring ceiling and wide windows that create an impressive sense of openness, yet also a feeling of warmth and relaxed grandeur. An array of bell-shaped chandeliers â hanging high from the ceiling like vines in a tropical jungle â immediately draws the eye and creates an eclectic, intimate impression.Â

Intricately crafted, these hanging lanterns are synonymous with the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok and have inexorably woven themselves into the memories of visitors. They became the muse to Margotâs designs, and â elegantly combined with the Mandarin Oriental Groupâs signature âfanâ device â have been immortalised by her in a range of commemorative brooches and earrings for this very special anniversary.

150 years of Excellence
From its origins in 1876 as Thailandâs first hotel, The Oriental â later the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok â became the preferred place to stay for visiting royalty, writers, poets, and politicians over the ensuing years. It has consistently ranked among the worldâs best hotels, and is a symbol of Bangkokâs renowned hospitality and relaxed splendour.
