World of Wonders

Margot’s distinct design style is characterised by colour and a bold, awe-inspiring aesthetic. Each piece celebrates life’s joys - from intense depths of colour to exciting locations, family and togetherness - which the artist holds dear.

She designs pieces that make a statement, offering the wearer confidence in making both an entrance and leaving an unforgettable impression.

Within Margot McKinney’s oeuvre, it is colour – its many bold notes and distinctions – and the highest quality gems that unite her work.

Margot’s jewellery, her designs and use of colour is something like we have never seen, with the use of all the natural minerals that Australia and the world has to offer. The multitude of colours used together – blues and greens, purples, oranges and pinks, all different hues surrounding pearls and opals. It has a unique aesthetic.

Jewellery is often not recognised as being in the same category as art. But Margot sees it differently:

“Historically its collectability has been proven over and over again – when it is in its rarest and most valuable form. I have always maintained that the ingredients in a piece of jewellery are intrinsically more valuable than the oil and watercolours on a canvas.”

Her skills however, go well beyond combining valuable materials.

‘Margot pavé’ was coined to refer to Margot’s use of stones of significant size and colour, to surround a magnificent centre stone.
