Learn more about the wonderful synergies that flow from these exciting alliances.

2023 Presenting Partner

Margot McKinney is proud to have been a presenting partner for Derek Deane’s ‘Strictly Gershwin’ at Queensland Ballet.

Queensland Ballet has taken its place as a vibrant and compelling contributor to Australia’s cultural landscape and an integral part of the national and international ballet ecology. The dancers have performed to widespread acclaim locally, nationally and internationally, have a thriving elite dancer training Academy, and offer inspiring education and community engagement programs across Queensland.

Margot McKinney said that she was delighted to work so closely with Queensland Ballet, a jewel in Queensland’s crown, as both organisations have a shared vision for design and bringing happiness to people.

Through my craft of jewellery design, I strive to bring happiness to people and to create adornments that signify love between two people. I feel that Queensland Ballet does the same through its extraordinary art form.“I admire and appreciate the skill and dedication of the dancers and everyone behind the scenes who strive to bring snippets of joy and happiness to us in this remarkably demanding art form.”

The G’Day USA program was started in 2003 to promote cultural, diplomatic and trade relations between Australia and the United States. Margot McKinney became a key sponsorship partner of this annual event in 2016, being heavily involved herself in exporting her work to the USA and seeing the program’s undeniable mutual benefits for these two very close nations. She was encouraged to become involved by the Honourable Julie Bishop, then Minister for Foreign Affairs in the Commonwealth Government, and maintained her partnership for six years.

Through her advocacy for closer ties both during and since her involvement with the program, Margot has made an important contribution to Australia’s relationship with the USA and other international markets. In both endeavours - as a jewellery designer and as an advocate for her country – she has made a significant impact on promoting broader trade and cultural ties.

Margot has also been an unofficial ambassador for our nation, as her jewellery has grown in popularity internationally. Her work contributes to changing perceptions and in increasing global acknowledgement of the creative and artistic community in Australia.”

The Honourable Julie Bishop
